Weathered Romanian Farmer Standing Behind Wooden Fence
There’s a kind of presence you don’t stage, and you don’t recreate later. You either come across it, or you don’t. This was one of those moments. I was walking through a small rural village in Romania, the kind of place where time feels slower and everything carries a sense of continuity—wooden fences, worn coats, hands that tell stories without saying a word. Then I saw him—standing quietly, leaning into the fence as if he had been there all morning.
What strikes me first in this image is the face. It’s not just age—it’s experience layered over time. The lines are deep, but they aren’t harsh. There’s a calmness to his expression, a directness. He’s not performing for the camera. He’s simply there, meeting the moment the same way I am. His hat sits naturally, his jacket carries the marks of real work, and his hands rest in a way that feels completely unposed. It all comes together in a way that feels grounded and honest.
The fence plays a quiet but important role here. It creates a physical barrier, but not an emotional one. In fact, it pulls you closer. There’s something about that line between us that makes the connection stronger. The repetition of the wooden posts, worn and uneven, mirrors the life behind them. It’s not polished. It’s real. The background falls away just enough to keep the focus on him, letting the texture of his face and clothing carry the image.
I photographed this on location while moving through the countryside, spending time in places where people still live close to the land. There’s no substitute for being there, walking the roads, stopping when something feels right, and allowing the moment to unfold naturally. That’s what this is—a real interaction, captured as it happened.
This piece works especially well in spaces where character matters more than decoration. Offices, studies, and living areas where you want something with weight to it, something that feels human and grounded rather than decorative filler. It’s a portrait that holds attention without demanding it.
Each print is produced using archival pigment inks on professional-grade paper, then personally signed and includes a certificate of authenticity. It’s a limited edition, and once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.
Premium Archival Fine Art Prints
I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Every print is personally produced, inspected, signed, numbered, and carefully packaged by me at my studio in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada.
Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
