A Classic Car Passes Havana’s Repeating Stone Arches
A classic American car crosses the road in front of Havana’s colonnaded buildings in this black and white street photograph. I kept the architecture as a broad backdrop, with the car low in the frame and an open sky above. The scene brings movement and repeating structure together.
The arches give the buildings a clear rhythm. Their shaded openings sit beside paler columns and worn wall surfaces, while the balcony railings add finer lines above. I like how the car interrupts that pattern just enough to make the street feel active, without hiding the architecture behind it.
The curved street lamps make another connection between the two levels of the picture. They rise from the pavement into the sky, echoing some of the softer shapes in the car. I left enough road in the foreground to keep the vehicle separate from the buildings and to show its place in the street.
This Havana print combines classic car photography with a wider Cuban city scene. It can appeal to someone who enjoys vintage automobiles, but also to someone drawn to the texture and repetition of older architecture. For me, its character comes from the relationship between a moving subject and a steady background: the car passes through, while the arches hold the composition in place. The black and white tones let both remain clear.
