Beijing Weathered Bicycle Against Grey Brick Wall Colour Photography
Rusty Wheels And A Wire Basket Beside Grey Brick
The bicycle’s fine spokes stand out against a wall of long grey bricks. Rust warms the rims, mudguards and rear rack, while the frame keeps a darker, quieter tone. A wire basket hangs over the front wheel, and the saddle has the worn softness of something that has seen a great deal of use.
I photographed this bicycle in Beijing in 2015. Its shape is familiar, but the details make this one particular: the curved handlebars, the enclosed chain guard, a small green lock and the almost flattened rear tyre. The wall gives those details a simple background. Its horizontal joints are a useful contrast to the circles of the wheels and the diagonals of the frame.
The colour is restrained. Most of the scene stays within grey, brown and pale stone, with rust providing the warmer notes. I like the way that keeps the photograph quiet while allowing the bike’s condition to remain visible. There is room to notice a bent line, a worn edge or a small patch of metal without being pulled away by a busy street.
This bicycle wall art would suit a hallway, office or room with natural textures and muted colour. It has an obvious appeal for a cycling enthusiast, but also for someone who enjoys close observations from travel. The photograph offers a modest Beijing street subject with a clear form, a textured setting and many small signs of wear.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
