Tokyo International Forum Atrium and Ribbed Ceiling Black and White Photography
Bridges Beneath the Long Sweep of the Atrium Roof
The ribbed ceiling of Tokyo International Forum sweeps into the distance above a series of interior bridges and walkways. I photographed the atrium in black and white, framing the broad roof curves against the finer grids of glass and steel. The vertical view brings several levels together, making the building’s depth as important as any individual architectural detail.
I spent time exploring the balconies and walkways, looking for a position where the structure would reveal its rhythm. From this level, the bridges crossed the lower part of the composition while the roof carried the eye toward the centre above them. The glass walls let daylight reach the framework, revealing repeated connections and smaller lines between the main beams. I wanted the photograph to include that complexity, with the curved walkways on the right and the denser glass grid on the left giving the view different textures on either side.
Monochrome helps those layers remain distinct. Bright ribs stand apart from the shadowed gaps overhead, while sunlight and darker surfaces give the lower levels their own sequence of tones. I like the way the crossing bridges interrupt the long movement of the ceiling, providing nearer shapes before the view continues into the building. For someone drawn to modern Japanese architecture or geometric photography, this image offers a sense of being inside the atrium and looking through its many overlapping structures. The scale comes from those relationships: large curves, finer grids, and smaller walkways all held within the same frame.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
