Red Tiled Canopies Above Uneven Openings In A Blue Wall
Yellow and blue are the first things I notice, but the uneven heights make this Bogotá facade especially engaging. I found it while walking through the city's central neighbourhoods and photographed it straight on. The colour image brings a tall yellow door and a lower barred window together against a vivid blue wall, each beneath a small red tiled canopy.
The two openings share enough detail to feel related without becoming symmetrical. Their yellow bars repeat a narrow vertical pattern, while the solid lower panels of the door create larger blocks. The window sits lower and is more open, giving the left side a different weight from the right.
I like the small pale brackets beneath the canopies. They separate the red tiles from the blue wall, adding a light accent between the stronger colours. The paint's rough texture remains visible across the facade, and the narrow strip of pavement at the bottom gives the composition a simple base.
I stayed close to the wall because its arrangement was already complete. The photograph does not need a wider street scene to explain what caught my attention: clear colours, repeated details, and a balance that is slightly off-centre. Looking back at it, I can follow the yellow shapes upward to the red roofs and then out across the blue surface. That movement is what turns an ordinary architectural fragment into a photograph I keep returning to.
