Aged Cuban Facade With Layered Paint And Iron Gate
I’ve always found that doors tell you more about a place than any skyline ever could. In Havana, they don’t just sit quietly in the background—they carry history right on their surface. This scene stopped me cold. Two aging wooden doors, worn down by decades of heat, humidity, and time, framed by layers of peeling paint that feel almost sculptural. The faded yellows, the oxidized greens, the cracks and chips—it’s all part of the story.
What caught my eye immediately was the contrast. On one side, the softness of worn wood panels, their texture almost powdery from years of exposure. On the other hand, the rigidity of that metal gate—harsh lines, rust creeping in, a different kind of aging altogether. There’s tension in that pairing. It’s not staged. It’s not designed. It just exists, and that’s exactly why it works.
This was photographed on location in Havana while walking through the streets without a plan, the way I usually work when I’m in a place like this. You don’t hunt for scenes like this—you let them find you. The city has a rhythm to it, and if you slow down enough, details like this begin to stand out. I’ve been to Havana multiple times, and every visit reveals something new, but this kind of layered decay is what keeps pulling me back.
From a visual standpoint, this image is all about texture and colour. It holds attention without needing a dominant subject. The repetition of the doors, the symmetry broken slightly by the gate, the subtle variations in tone—it all comes together in a way that feels grounded and real. There’s nothing polished here, and that’s exactly the point.
As a piece of wall art, this works beautifully in spaces that need depth without noise. It brings character without overwhelming a room. Offices, living spaces, even modern interiors benefit from something like this—something that feels lived-in, with a sense of place behind it.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.
Premium Archival Fine Art Prints
I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Every print is personally produced, inspected, signed, numbered, and carefully packaged by me at my studio in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada.
Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
