I spent a long time walking around this modern tower in Seoul’s Seocho district, circling it the way I often do when something catches my eye. This particular angle stopped me cold. The façade pulls upward in long, sweeping curves, and every panel of glass behaves like its own small canvas. As I was lining up this shot, the entire city began folding into the building — skyscrapers stacking themselves into the reflection, lines intersecting at impossible angles, and the whole scene taking on this fluid, abstract momentum. That’s what drew me in. It wasn’t just the structure itself; it was the way Seoul reshaped itself inside its surface.

The light that day was soft and bright enough to hold detail, but diffused just sufficiently to give the reflections some mood. Monochrome felt right for this one. Removing colour lets the geometry breathe and keeps the viewer’s focus where it belongs — on the interplay of curves, verticals, and the mirrored cityscape. Every time I look at this photograph, I see something new hiding behind those glass panels, as if the city is revealing its layers frame by frame.

Seocho has become one of my favourite districts to photograph. It’s modern, clean, and full of architectural forms that reward patience. You can stand in one spot, slightly change your position, and the entire scene reorganises itself. That’s precisely what happened here. I shot this building from every vantage I could find, but this reflection-driven perspective was the moment where everything clicked. It felt honest to the city — dynamic, fast-moving, yet still architecturally precise.

I created this photograph on location during my time exploring Seoul, working the scene until the composition, tonality, and rhythm aligned. There’s something about being physically present that you can’t replicate — hearing the traffic, feeling the scale of the structure, watching the reflections shift as the sun moves. That lived experience shapes the final image in ways that matter deeply to me. Every print I make of this work is signed by hand and includes a certificate of authenticity.
