Looking Up At Monumental Corinthian Columns Of The Pantheon
There are buildings in the world that you expect to impress you, and then there are places that quietly overwhelm you once you’re standing beneath them. The Pantheon in Rome belongs firmly in the second category. From a distance, it feels historic and monumental, but when you walk up to the entrance and stand directly under the portico, the scale shifts. Suddenly, the columns tower above you like stone trees, and the architecture begins to feel almost alive.
This photograph captures that feeling from a low perspective, looking up along the massive Corinthian columns that define the entrance to the Pantheon. The stone surfaces are weathered by centuries of sun, rain, and human history. Every groove, crack, and subtle stain tells the story of time passing over one of the most enduring structures ever built. In black and white, those textures become even more pronounced, turning the architecture into something sculptural rather than simply historical.
What draws my eye in this image is the way the columns guide your gaze upward. Each shaft pulls the eye toward the intricate capitals and then further into the decorated pediment above. The Latin inscription stretches across the stone façade, anchoring the entire structure in the long narrative of Roman engineering and design. Above it all, the clouds drift slowly through the Roman sky, adding movement and contrast against the solid permanence of the building itself.
I photographed this while exploring Rome on foot, doing what I always do when I travel—wandering slowly and looking for angles that reveal something familiar in a slightly different way. The Pantheon has been photographed millions of times, but standing directly beneath those columns and pointing the camera upward transforms the experience. Instead of a postcard view, it becomes a study of scale, texture, and architectural strength.
Black and white felt like the natural choice for this image. Colour can sometimes distract from the structure itself, but removing it lets the geometry and the stone's surface take centre stage. The light and shadow along the columns give depth to the scene, while the sky above provides just enough contrast to frame the architecture without overpowering it.
Each print is produced using archival pigment inks on museum-grade paper, then personally signed by me and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. I photograph these places on location, and each print represents a moment spent standing there—camera in hand, looking up at history.
This image works beautifully in offices, libraries, living rooms, or study spaces where strong architectural lines and classical design feel at home. It carries a sense of permanence and quiet strength, the kind of visual presence that anchors a room without overwhelming it.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
