Arched Tuscan Double Door Black And White Architectural Photography
A Rounded Entrance Set Within Layers Of Worn Plaster
The rounded top of this Tuscan door gives the photograph an immediate centre, framed by a fan of textured stone blocks. I liked the formality of that entrance against the irregular plaster around it. The door is carefully shaped and balanced, while the wall carries broad patches of wear that make the whole facade feel less orderly.
Two round knobs sit at matching heights on the wooden panels. Beneath them, worn lower sections add a rougher band close to the pavement. The arched surround rises to a small decorative relief above the entrance, giving the eye a reason to move upward through the composition.
At the left, a grille covers a small window with plants spilling over its sill. On the other side, an intercom and fittings show the practical life of the building. I find those details useful in the photograph: they keep the doorway connected to an everyday street, even when its shape has such a strong visual presence.
Black and white brings the panels, stone, plaster and paving into one range of tones. It makes the contrast between careful geometry and weathered texture especially clear, without asking colour to carry the scene.
I photographed this doorway in Tuscany in 2010. For someone drawn to Italian architecture, it offers a close view of the details that make walking through older streets rewarding. As a hallway or study print, its centred entrance creates a steady focal point, with the plants, relief and changing wall surfaces revealing more on a second look.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
