Curley’s Tap Route 66 Pub Black and White Americana Photography
A Large Road Shield Sign Above a Pavement Picnic Table
Curley’s Tap announces itself with a large sign that combines the pub name and a Route 66 shield. Below it, an awning stretches across the brick frontage, and a picnic table stands on the pavement. I photographed this stop during my travels along Route 66 in 2022, drawn to the mix of road imagery, lettering and everyday storefront details.
The angled view lets the facade lead across the frame rather than sitting flat in front of the camera. Brickwork fills the upper area, with pale stone around the lower windows and doorway. I like how the sign supplies a bold shape against those smaller repeated textures. Other signs in the windows and above the awning add to the character of the place, while the table gives the foreground a clear structure of its own. Black and white brings the lettering, masonry and pavement together without losing their differences.
For me, the photograph carries the appeal of Route 66 through an ordinary business frontage. The road shield is immediately recognisable, but the image also offers the details around it: the sloping awning, dark windows, brick pattern and table close to the street. On a wall, I see it fitting an interest in Americana, pub photography or road travel where the stops matter as much as the route itself. The vertical composition holds the signs and foreground together, giving the scene a direct presence and several smaller details to revisit.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
