Wrecked DC-3 on Iceland’s Solheimasandur Black Sand
On Iceland’s Solheimasandur Beach, stripped bare by wind and volcanic sand, sits the wreckage of a U.S. Navy DC-3—broken, skeletal, and oddly still. This wall art print captures the aircraft as it is today: a ghost of metal left in a black desert, open to the elements and whatever meaning people bring with them when they visit.
The fuselage is torn open. Rivets hang loose. The wings are long gone. What’s left is hollow, weathered, and resting quietly against the dark sand.
