Architectural Abstract - VIA 57 West, Manhattan: Museum-Quality Photo Art Print
Roaming the concrete jungle of Manhattan, my footsteps led me to the doorstep of the VIA 57 West, a residential edifice nestled in Hell's Kitchen at 625 West 57th Street. Conceived from the minds of the Danish architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group, this 35-story pyramid-shaped tower manifests an edgy sophistication that captures New York's spirit.
My aim was not just to capture a photograph, but to question perception. This closeup architectural marvel could be mistaken as an abstract piece, a figment of digital artistry rather than a physical structure. No illusion, no Photoshop, just the raw elegance of the VIA 57 West, captured through careful composition.
This piece of New York City architecture has always fascinated me. With its unique form, it stands as a stark contrast to the other structures I have photographed around Manhattan and New Jersey. The abstract nature of the condominium, the way its lines and angles intersect and interact, inspired me to capture it time and time again. One day, I found the perfect angle, an angle that evenly split the image, creating a startling abstraction of reality. The minimalist color scheme, dominated by a gentle blue cast from the sky, led me to envision this as a high-contrast black-and-white photograph.
