Abandoned British Columbia Waterfront Resort Photography in Mist
A Weathered Welcome Sign Below Forest and Exposed Timber
The small Welcome sign makes this abandoned waterfront resort feel more personal to me. It remains among weathered walkways, docks and timber supports, with a dense British Columbia forest rising behind the buildings. I photographed the scene in monochrome as mist softened the trees and the shoreline structures stayed sharply visible against the water.
The large gabled building sits to the left, its open front exposing parts of the framework beneath the roof. Across the middle, a long raised walkway joins smaller structures and a sloping gangway. That web of practical connections is what interests me here. It shows how the waterfront was arranged for use, even though the worn surfaces now draw more attention than their original purpose. A cabin boat and a covered vessel remain close to the dock, keeping the water’s edge detailed and specific.
The forest changes the scale of the photograph. Tall conifers fill the background, becoming paler as they disappear into fog. Below them, the low buildings and narrow walkways seem small and vulnerable, while ripples spread across the foreground. I wanted to keep that wider setting rather than concentrate only on a single damaged wall. For someone drawn to coastal buildings or forgotten places, the print offers a layered view of weathered architecture within a living landscape. What stays with me is that brief word of welcome, still readable amid the complicated lines of timber and dock, with the misty forest enclosing the scene behind it.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
