Father and son riding horse-drawn cart Trinidad Cuba

This travel street photograph of a father and son riding an authentic horse-drawn buggy was taken in Trinidad, Cuba, not to be confused with the country of Trinidad.  I love this travel image because of its authenticity.  Exploring the island town, I ventured off into the non-touristy neighborhoods and streets where the local people lived and worked.  The houses and homes on these streets are still colorful and exciting.

Horse and Buggy in Cuba

With the United States trade embargo, it is illegal for the USA (and multinationals doing business in the USA) to sell items to the communist Cuban nation.  Therefore, you see an abundance of old 50's vehicles.  But the poor small-town local people can not afford these classic cars and trucks.  So they improvise.  The cart in this image looks homemade, with car or truck tires and springs, with a homemade wooden and metal upper carriage.

The man is riding on one side with the horse reins in his hands and is looking toward the young boy.
