NYC Brass Fire Hose Nozzl
I spotted this vintage brass fire hose nozzle during a walk through New York’s old firehouse district. It was tucked into plain view, aged by time and use, with scratches and patina revealing decades of real service. The shape alone—solid but intricate—spoke volumes. It wasn’t a museum piece. It was a tool with history.
I shot it under natural window light, midday, to let the brass shine and the details stand out. No studio lighting. No extra polish. Just soft light and a steady frame, emphasizing the form. The surface tells a story: dents from impact, darkened rings where hands once gripped it, edges worn smooth. It’s an object that holds time.
Still-life photography is about finding significance in the overlooked. A nozzle like this is functional by design—but when isolated and framed, it becomes something more. A statement about craft and durability. I left plenty of negative space so it could hold its own—no clutter, no distraction.
If you’re drawn to images that elevate everyday objects into quiet monuments, more of these moments await in my Still Life Photography Collection. Each piece is a real object, found and captured—not composed in software or imagined.
Each print is printed and signed by hand in my studio, and what you’re seeing is exactly what I saw in that moment—real photography, taken on location, with nothing artificial involved.
