Missouri Gas Filling Station

Back in the day, it was more than a gas station. The Rockwood Motor Court was a charming little building that was a filling station right on Route 66, just west of Springfield, Missouri. The old station, along with a motor court, was built in 1929, just three years after The Mother Road opened. After many changes in ownership, the business became Rockwood Motor Court in 1948. The term motor court came into use in the late 1930s. They were designed for people traveling by automobile. Motels don't have garages, but some motor courts do!

This black-and-white Route 66-themed photographic art print features an old truck parked in the motel facing the Shell service station. The truck is old but still runs and is used as an attraction to this retro-themed resort. The vintage vehicle adds to the nostalgic feel of the location.
