The scientific research station in Antarctica
Camara Base is an Argentine Antarctic Scientific Base located at Menguante Cove on Half Moon Island in the South Shetland Islands. Argentina established the Antarctica scientific base in 1953. In addition, there are 12 Argentinian research bases in Antarctica. There are also many others in the region operated by other countries. You can see the complete list here.
Size of the ScientificResearch Base
The base can be identified by its black tower with yellow stripes. It is considered minor as it can only hold up to 36 people during the summer months. The station is consists of only four structures; the main and emergency buildings, a freezing chamber building, a warehouse, and a deposit.
These scientists at this Antarctic scientific base observe surface meteorology, birds, and the impacts of local tourism. The Argentinian scientists have also studied oceanography and geochronology in the Antarctica region.
