Amsterdam Canal Houses
Early morning in Amsterdam, and the city is as quiet as it gets. Wandering down a narrow cobblestone street, I found myself staring at these Amsterdam Canal Houses, perfectly mirrored in the calm water. The scene felt timeless. These houses, tall and narrow with their quirky, gabled roofs, lean just a bit, each one with its own story etched in centuries-old bricks.
There’s something surreal about seeing the city reflected like this, almost as if it’s revealing a secret side. In black and white, it’s even more striking—no distractions, just pure form and symmetry. For a second, it felt like I was caught between two worlds, with the real Amsterdam above and its silent, mirrored twin below.
This is why I travel. Moments like these, where the city seems to pause just long enough to share a piece of itself with you. If you are interested, I have an article discussing the best time to visit Amsterdam.
