The title says everything: "You are now entering Free Derry." The gable wall old house sits in the middle of a busy junction and is featured in this black and where photojournalism photograph.
The iconic slogan painted in black letters on a white wall has become one of the most enduring images of the troubles in Northern Ireland. It is a focal point of republican defiance, often as the background to violent clashes between the security forces and the people of the Bogside.
It is also a sign of changing times; the "You are now entering Free Derry " monument has officially become a national monument.
