What caught me was not a single landmark but the whole layered street: weathered walls, barred doors, faded paint, ornate ironwork, and laundry hanging from balconies above the sidewalk. I was drawn to the contrast between the pale yellow building in the foreground and the pink, blue, green, and orange facades farther along the street. The warm sunlight brings out every crack, patch, shutter, railing, and worn edge without taking away the dignity of the buildings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe composition moves naturally from the broad wall and doorway on the left toward the narrower line of homes in the distance. Above, the balconies and hanging clothes create a second rhythm, almost like another street suspended over the first. The empty roadway gives the frame breathing room and lets the architecture carry the photograph.
