This is not just a monument frozen in time, but something that continues to be maintained and acknowledged in the present. The tonal contrast between the painted letters and the weathered wall becomes more apparent in black and white, allowing surface texture, shadow, and structural lines to take precedence over color.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI captured this photograph on location while walking through the Bogside area, drawn in by the architectural clarity of the gable end and the dramatic sky forming behind it. The heavy cloud cover created an even light across the wall, which helped preserve detail in both the plaster and lettering without flattening the overall scene.
