The clothing, bicycle, shopping bag hanging from the handlebars, and his relaxed forward posture all contribute to the story without needing explanation.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBlack and white simplifies the scene considerably. Toronto's sidewalks, fencing, trees, buildings, pavement, and parked vehicles settle into layers of gray rather than competing with the cyclist. His white beard becomes the brightest natural feature in the frame, while the dark coat and bicycle provide the visual weight underneath it. The blurred background reinforces his direction of travel and leaves open space ahead of the bicycle, giving the image a sense of continued movement beyond the edge of the photograph.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat interests me most is the contrast within the man himself.
