Current Time in Ulaanbaatar
The clock below shows the current time in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, with the local date. Ulaanbaatar uses UTC+8 and currently does not observe daylight saving time. Use the button to switch between 24-hour and 12-hour display.
Ulaanbaatar Time Zone and Time Difference
The city’s time zone is Asia/Ulaanbaatar. The clock uses that zone and your device’s current date and time, so an incorrectly set device clock can affect the result. When arranging a call or a pickup, check the date as well as the hour: it may already be the following day in Mongolia.
Your time difference from Ulaanbaatar can change if your own location observes daylight saving time. For example, Toronto is 12 hours behind during Eastern Daylight Time and 13 hours behind during Eastern Standard Time. Ulaanbaatar’s time-zone record is a useful reference when planning ahead.
Mongolia stayed with me for its landscapes and the details of daily life. My Mongolia photography collection brings together photographs from my travels there.
A Photograph from Ulaanbaatar
The Temple of Appliques photograph draws my attention to the carved entrance and the repeated shapes beneath the roof. Black and white brings those details forward, letting the structure and surface carry the image. It is a quieter view of Ulaanbaatar than a broad city skyline, but one that gives me a reason to keep looking.
Planning Time for Travel Photography
A local clock helps with the practical part of a trip: meeting a guide, contacting home or keeping track of an itinerary. It does not tell you when the light will suit a particular photograph. For that, I would check sunrise and sunset for the travel dates, then consider the direction of the light and the place I want to photograph.
My solo travel tips cover some of those everyday planning habits. I also discuss the relationship between place, observation and personal experience in my guide to travel photography.
If the photograph above catches your attention, my wider Asia photography collection includes more places and details from my travels across the region.
