Ellis island medical staff apartment

The Ellis Island immigration and public health facility was built between 1910 and 1924, had thirty buildings, and processed over 5,000 immigrants a day at its peak. Medical staff would perform a physical exam, and if the immigrant were deemed unwell, the doctor would place a chalk mark on their chest according to their ailment. Individual immigrants diagnosed with any number of illnesses would be sent back to their country of origin or placed in the Ellis Island public health hospital.

Most of the thirty buildings are entirely decayed. This photograph features one of the corner apartment units where medical staff lived during their tenure on the island. The floor level is condemned, but I was able to gain access to photograph some of the historic building's remains. The roof and wall of the residence are in ruin. The plastered walls are crumbling, leaving the century-old brick exposed. This room has a large window allowing sunlight to illuminate the room with a single ancient chair.

Which is better, TIFF or JPG, for art prints?

One of the most frequently asked questions is what is the difference between JPG and TIFF? I have written an article discussing the difference. Click here for more information.
