Ontario abandoned factory in ruin
Abandoned Building Theme
I found this old factory in my travels in Northern Ontario. The building has been abandoned for many decades and sits boarded up with trees and weeds taking over the outside of the building. I found a small doorway where I was able to enter. The texture and uniqueness of a building that may have sitting in rot for 50 years intrigue me. In fact, one of the images I took of a red rowboat propped up against the textured wall won the best picture award in one of the contests I entered.
In this image, I ventured up to the 2nd floor of the abandoned old factory and, with my tripod, was able to take some excellent pictures of the textured floorboards, columns. The debris was scattered everywhere, and the floor looked like it might collapse at any moment. Its scene has a creepy look to it. To enhance this ominous evil feel, I converted the image to black and white and pumped up the contrast.
Images like this make excellent fine-art photos as they have a uniquely interesting look that makes the viewer explore the photograph and wonder what, where, when.
