Marthas Vineyard fishing hut
Martha's Vineyard is a historic maritime island located seven miles south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The island is famous for its 19th-century whaling industry. Ships originated from the island's ports and sailed worldwide, hunting whales brought back for processing oil and blubber. There still exists a small commercial fishing community on the island.
The photograph here features a typical fishing hut found in one of the island's local marinas. The building itself is in excellent condition. But the junk piled in front of the cabin is what caught my eye. Here you can see dozens of different fishing boats, chains, buckets, gas cans, boat motors, ropes, chains, lobster traps, and so much more. The viewer can explore the details of this image for hours and still find new items.
