Horseshoe bend canyon rim to the water
I love photographing the American Southwest. I spent many days with my friend Alan Briot exploring the various states and striking desert landscapes.
Horseshoe Bend is visually stunning and very easy to take great pictures of. The newly expanded parking lot offers a quick and easy walk to the Horseshoe Bend Overlook, south of Page, Arizona. The canyon is massive and intense.
This photograph of the canyon at sunset features colorful shades of pink: the red sky, with one section of the colorado river. The detailed rocks on the canyon wall are hues of orange and red, leading down to the green foliage and Colorado River. You might also be interested in my Horseshoe Bend Canyon in Black and White. How high up is the Horseshoe Bend Overlook?
The canyon is large and deep. According to Wikipedia, the Horseshoe Bend Overlook is 1000 feet or 300 meters from the Colorado River below. Although this sounds quite impressive, it is less than half the height of the Grand Canyon, which is over 3000 feet or 1000 meters.
