Chengdu Bridge Reflection on River
Beautiful Anshun Bridge (Dongmen Bridge) Reflection on River at Dusk
We arrived in Chengdu, China, mid-afternoon, and our hotel was quite close to the Chengdu Bridge (Anshum Bridge) that we had planned to photograph. It was nice, but when we came back at dusk, and the bridge was lit up at night, it was gorgeous. The veranda bridge houses a restaurant spanning the river on top.
The Anshun Bridge is an arch bridge that crosses the Jin River. The surrounding area to Anshun Bridge is not the only attraction but the nightlife on both sides of the river. It's worth stopping at one of the many bars in the neighborhood.
Anshun Bridge History
The Anshun bridge (or Chengdu bridge) was first made famous by Marco Polo during the Yuan Dynasty (13th century) when he mentioned one of four beautiful bridges in his writings, of which the Anshun Bridge (an earlier version of it) was his favorite. Unfortunately, a flood destroyed the original bridge built in 1746 in 1947 and rebuilt in 2003.
