Abandoned Whaling Station Antarctica
Whaler's Bay Deception Island
In addition to the beautiful landscapes and wildlife to photograph, the Antarctic is also home to numerous whaling stations that have long since been abandoned to the snow and ice. These time capsules to the past are a particular passion of mine to photograph.
The old abandoned buildings, structures and other artifacts at this station in the Antarctica date from the period of 1906-31, on the shore of Whaler's Bay at Deception Island, are considered the most significant whaling operation remains in the Antarctic.
