The vertical boards were worn dark from years of Atlantic weather, with lighter streaks where rain, salt air, and time had worked their way down the wood. The door sits heavy and plain, patched and marked, with hinges that look as though they have been doing their job for longer than anyone bothered to count. Besides, the small window adds just enough human presence to the scene without turning it into something tidy or romantic.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe red maple leaf is the detail that holds the image together for me.
